Hired as Postdoctoral Researchers, starting 2021:

Dr Joleen Blom
Intimacy, players’ affective & parasocial relationships with game characters, Japanese studies, fan studies, porn studies, Japanese game narratology, transmedia studies.

Dr Lobna Hassan
Diversity & accessibility in gaming, storification, politics, disability studies, games & popular culture.

Dr Mikko Meriläinen
Digital gaming & youth, game education, gaming literacy, public discourses of gaming.

Dr Lars de Wildt
Game production studies, player studies, identity construction, history & religion in games, cultural diversity.
Starting in 2021 as Affiliated Senior Researchers:

Dr Mattia Thibault
Semiotics of play & games, playful & critical design, ludic spaces, spatial justice.
– Dr Thibault starts the CoE-GameCult collaborations immediately, and becomes a full-time Senior Researcher in September 2021.

Dr Souvik Mukherjee
Postcolonialism and subalternity in videogame cultures, diversity, inclusiveness, Indian videogames & boardgames, games & storytelling, history in videogames.
– Dr Mukherjee will join the Centre as a visiting scholar at the earliest convenience.
